Job Description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Inspector to join our manufacturing client based in Nottinghamshire. Established for over 35 years, our client specialises in bespoke engineering solutions, and they are currently launching into new sectors that offer stability and growth. This is an exciting time to join the team and be a part of the next phase of their exciting plans.

The Role 

  • Liaise with Production Management / RWC on contract detail/specifications drawings lists and technical welding instruction.
  • Deliver information to the workshop teams appertaining to the project QA/QC, ensuring shop floor staff are aware of the project specification and criteria. If required, you will hold toolbox talks at the start of any contract with personnel selected to undertake the work in line with BS EN 3834 EN ISO 1090-1 CE Certification.
  • Dimensional & weld inspection of all items in production in line with works instructions and Client ITP.
  • Assist with third party & client’s inspectors as required.
  • Ensure any welding carried out on contracts that require extra surveillance i.e. weld mapping, is recorded in accordance with project ITP.
  • Check and inspect items at suppliers/subcontractors, recording all findings on relevant paperwork. i.e. fabrication reports, galvanising reports, and painting reports.
  • Assist the purchasing team with supplier approvals, giving accurate feedback on the performance of approved suppliers.
  • Delivery programmes, ensuring all QA is completed prior to the load being released to the client.
  • Communicate on a professional basis to resolve any queries, this may include internal, engineers, clients, or subcontractors.
  • Corrective action and NCR implementation and closeout in accordance with standard procedures. Monitor and maintain the in-process error log.
  • Attend site visits if/when required.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction, keeping records to this effect, by client’s inspectors or representatives signing relevant paperwork, ensuring customers are supplied with relevant quality documentation.
  • Assist and carry out Quality / H&S audits in line with company systems and procedures, highlighting any issues that compromise company quality standards.
  • Comply with the Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality Policy and procedure in all operations and activities under your control, focusing on excellence in all work areas and utilising best practices to achieve the Company’s goals. Identify that the requirements of all necessary Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work are understood by those carrying them out and that any control measures required are implemented to ensure they are workable in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Report and record (on the appropriate company documentation) any accidents/incidents or near misses that occur and assist in the investigation of all incidents if required.
  • Inform Production Manager/Supervisor of concerns surrounding breaches of company rules.
  • Undertake regular inspections/audits of the workplace to monitor the integrity of the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures, using company documentation and ensuring that all actions noted are completed and signed off.
  • Ensure training in the department is flexible to cover any shortfalls of staff and organise cover to ensure holiday periods and breakdowns are efficiently utilised.
  • Assist with appraisals when required.

The Candidate 

  • Previous inspection experience within engineering/manufacturing.
  • Hold a recognised welding/fabrication certificate.
  • Visual welding certificate (Cswip) is highly advantageous.
  • Paint inspection training desirable.
  • Galvanising inspection trained is highly advantageous.

Salary and Benefits

  • Days available Mon- Thu 7:25- 15:55 & Fri 7:30- 13:30.
  • £24,956 per annum.
