Job Description

We are working in partnership to recruit a Senior Category Buyer with a market leader in the design, development, and manufacture of high-speed machinery, with an $8.5 bn turnover, a reputation for excellence and operations. They have a global reach and confirm significant growth with a new site opening Leeds.

As Senior Category Buyer you will be a Stronger leader to and be able manage to the Buying team, ensuring the strategic and operational targets are achieved. Drive improvement and support the implementation of new initiatives aligned with the Business Growth Strategy

You will be responsible for

  • Generating best value with all procurement activities through employing a balanced approach to cost, delivery, and quality.
  • Supplier Relationship Management - establish, develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with key suppliers including hosting periodic review meetings and conducting supplier visits as necessary.
  • Category Management – development and implementation of Category strategies appropriate to spend areas under their responsibility.
  • Creating a robust Supply Chain for product and services to meet current and future requirements for all business activities and alignment with strategic direction.
  • Responsibility for new supplier sourcing, assessment, and onboarding, whilst also focusing on Supplier Rationalisation where appropriate by category.
  • Contract Management – wider implementation of formalised agreements with key suppliers’ opportunities and steer more informed sourcing decision making.
  • Ensuring all operational activities are performed in an efficient and timely manner by the Team and supporting where areas of concern are identified.

    You will have worked within a Senior Buyers role with manufacturing/ engineering environment ideally Category Management

  • Proven track record implementing Buying projects from cradle to grave
  • Have excellent people manager skills to lead, develop and motivate a team.
  • Commercially astute being able to negotiate, problem solve to improve and streamline the business, maximising ROI and reducing risk.
  • Professional qualification (CIPS or equivalent) would be a distinct advantage
  • Extensive use of ERP / MRP systems
