Cubed Resourcing are excited to be supporting our Client to recruit for a MIG Welder, you will report to the Production Supervisor.

Our Client is a leading supplier of engineering solutions, specialising in the bespoke design and construction of metal fabrications and the turnkey supply of physical water, energy, and environmental management installations. As a full electro-mechanical service provider, they can help to support almost any project.

 

With this wide range of expertise, they work within UK water utilities, power companies, government agencies, and drainage boards – with many appointing them as their preferred framework contractor. Additionally, they have worked with building companies, architects, machine builders, and other fabrications companies to achieve optimal solutions for a wide range of projects.

 

Job Function:       To carry out welding operations during the fabrication of steel sections. 

 

Job Description: 

 

Organisation and Quality

 

  • The welder is to check that they have the correct information regarding the type, size of weld, they are working in conjunction with the correct welding procedure and are qualified to carry out the weld.
  • On fabrications which have a complicated welding design, teams should work together to ensure best possible welding solution.
  • The welder should fully weld the section as per engineering drawing instruction, turning where required. If for any reason you are unsure about a particular weld or joint consult your line supervisor or manager for further instruction.
  • Once the weld has been completed the area around the weld is to be cleaned free from spatter and silica. The use of Grinders / Scrapers etc during this activity All PPE should be worn as described in the risk assessment. If a full strength weld has been done then the welder should initial, date & time the item for NDT technician.
  • Yellow route cards are to be completed to ensure full traceability of items being welded.
  • Ensure their welding equipment is calibrated, in test and in good working order before use. 
  • Only use welding wire which is stored in line with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Participate in welding quality audits.  Assist in resolution of issues with product, processes and systems.
  • Flexibility to work on other sites as required.
  • Report defects to inspection team and advise corrective actions as and when necessary.
  • Adhere to quality procedures, standards and specifications.
  • Assist with and advise production team on suitable weld preparation/design.
