Cubed Talent are excited to be supporting our client to recruit for an Electrical Project Engineer working within the heavy engineering sector. Our client based in Nottinghamshire is a leading supplier of engineering solutions, specialising in the bespoke design and construction of metal fabrications and the turnkey supply of physical water, energy, and environmental management installations. They have recently appointed a new MD who has a Strategic Growth Plan for the business including diversifying into new areas such as Modular and Nuclear. This is an exciting time to join the business as an Electrical Project Engineer offering plenty of scope to grow within the business.


The main function of the Electrical Project Engineer will be responsibility for the coordination and delivery of projects mostly under the Environment Agency M&E Frameworks, ranging in values and complexity, ensuring all projects to be undertaken are to an agreed cost, scope, and program.


The Role

  • Responsible for the coordination and delivery of projects mostly under our Environment Agency M&E Frameworks, ranging in values and complexity. All projects to be undertaken to an agreed cost, scope, and program.
  • Working direct with the client on MEICA & Minor Works framework projects, with values of between £ 2,000 and £200,000.
  • Ensure all works are scoped with the client on-site using the relevant resource.
  • Provide technical knowledge on the repair, refurbishment, or replacement of equipment & plant.
  • Ensure that estimates are completed on time in line with service level agreements.
  • Attendance of internal launch/scope meetings with associated departments
  • Pre‐construction process plan – develop, implement, and monitor.
  • Attendance of external start‐up, site visit, and design meetings.
  • Attendance of internal launch, departmental hand‐over, and price review meetings
  • Arrange and attend technical meetings with clients, consultants, and sub‐contractors.
  • Liaise with the internal design department where appropriate.
  • Management of agreed resources, budget, scope, and program with site services team.
  • Liaise with procurement team and engage key sub‐contractors and suppliers.
  • Attend Pre‐contract and progress meetings as required.
  • Manage key sub‐contractors and suppliers on-site.
  • Approve Subcontractors H&S documentation if appropriate.
  • Produce commissioning plans in conjunction with the site services team.
  • Ensure documentation is in place for handover and sign-off.
  • Ensure H&S documentation in place including Construction Phase Plans, RAMS, and Lift Plans (For Appointed Persons).
  • Production of accurate O&M’s & Health and Safety Files as required using the appropriate resource.
  • Monitor project program and interface with client’s other activities.
  • Produce updated information and work summaries to clients.
  • Produce information for framework KPI’s and Service Level Agreements.
  • Monitor project costs and highlight cost variances.
  • Management of variation notices in accordance with the contract requirements (e.g., early warnings and compensation notices).


The Candidate

  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of electrical controls experience which could include the diagnosis and repair of control panels, repair/replace/refurbishment of water-related assets, and 5 years minimum supervisory management of field engineering teams.
  • HNC/D or equivalent.
  • 18th Edition of BS7671.
  • 2391 preferred but not essential.
  • CSCS Gold card “Technician”.
  • SMSTS Accredited.
  • IOSH Accredited.
  • Confined space certified advantageous.
  • CSCS Black “Project Manager” cardholder is advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD advantageous.
  • The ideal candidate will be located in the Midlands or South Yorkshire and must be able to travel to sites nationwide.
